"Grease is the Word" by Alexandra Gunnoe

Our latest shoot was a lot of fun and was especially important because it marked the half-way point for The Vintage Bus Project.  I love working with models I’ve previously had a good experience with, and that was the case when shooting Brooke for this Grease / 50’s Youth Culture shoot.

I met Brooke a few months ago on a bus in the middle of the country.  I knew I had to photograph her and scheduled a test shoot at an abandoned control tower from WWII in Winkleigh, Devon.  That session produced one of my all-time favorite images in my portfolio.  We had great chemistry so I immediately booked her for one of the bus shoots.

Here are some of my favorite images from the day.  Isn’t the bus funky?  I love it.

"50's Prom Night Gone Wrong" (Behind-the-Scenes) by Alexandra Gunnoe

Our 50’s Inspired Prom shoot on the 5th of April went so well.  There wasn’t much stress involved, as we had all worked together before and I had a great feeling about Charli, our latest model.   Again, this shoot took place at Dan Shears’ West of England Transportation Collection in Winkleigh, Devon.  The theme of this project was a prom night gone wrong.  It centers around a teenage girl who was so excited to go to prom, only to end up in tears and catching the bus home alone.

Despite the crazy wind, we were able to pull off some great images.  I’ve included some of my favorites as well as a behind-the-scenes film showing the creative team prepping the model, deciding on the fashion as well as clips from the actual photo shoot.

And if you get a chance, check out “My Bubba & Mi”, who is credited with the soundtrack for the film.  Their music is amazing!

Behind-the-Scenes on our 60's Inspired Vintage Fashion Shoot by Alexandra Gunnoe

This is behind-the-scenes footage from our 60's Inspired Vintage Bus Shoot shot in early March 2014 by Alexandra Gunnoe at the West of England Transportation Collection in Winkleigh, Devon (UK).  This was the first in a series of 11 Vintage Fashion shoots featuring these gorgeous old buses from the 40's, 50's and 60's, beautifully restored and provided by Dan Shears, Proprieter at the WETC.  This particular bus is a 1959 Leyland PD3, Weymann body double decker.
